On May 31, 2015, the First Dasa of Oikos - Rev. Dasa William Griffith - and his wife, Prioress Alysyn Bourque, pledged to remain in support of the rights of homeless persons in solidarity with their plight until they could build a permanent community where their homeless friends could call home.

The effort was also launched to bring awareness to the criminalization of the homeless, and to challenge government leaders to introduce and pass a National Homeless Bill of Rights.
